Reclaiming the Pavement
Edmonton Community Partnership, WalkWith and Curate Your Genius have launched the production of a documentary exploring the places young people feel safe (and unsafe) in their communities and why. By following three young people as they guide us through the streets of Edmonton, the film will amplify their stories and perspectives, shedding light on how safety (or its absence) shapes their mental health, relationships and daily lives.
The aim is:
-
To give a voice to young people’s lived experiences of safety and fear in their own neighbourhoods
-
To explore how feelings of (un)safety impact young people’s mental health, home life, education and aspirations
-
To showcase the crucial work of local youth-focused organisations (e.g., ECP, NYCC) that support young people and foster safer environments and bring these concerns to their attention
-
To inspire dialogue and action among community members, stakeholders and decision-makers toward improving youth safety, health and well-being
We are looking for 10 young people to be on a panel, as well as 3 youth members we can 'follow' around the area in an a-day-in-the-life format.
